Which is it?
'To read' or 'to be read'?
It seems trite to have two piles which basically function in exactly the same way. I mean, one or the other, but both is just greedy.
Greedy.. and trite.
Oh yeah, I'm currently reading a book called Booty Nomad.
Which I bought solely because I needed change.
Pretty alright, thus far.

The Extended Phenotype by Richard Dawkins.
A highly technical exposition on evolution and genetics? Yes please.

Kind off. But its very interesting stuff, and he tries his hardest to make it enjoyable. But he explain in the preface that it is intended for an academic and professional audience.Look at my Dogs wrote:andrews wrote:The Extended Phenotype by Richard Dawkins.

Which i sadly am not.
@HP discussion: I am inclined to agree. Nothing beats Order of The Phoenix For Me. Although the last two are very good aswell.

Re: What book are you reading at the moment?
read the time traveler's wife.
great book.
one part philosophy. one part love story.
although the philosophy is pretty much forgotten in the second half, which is a shame.
what's next on my list?
ah yes, the road.
looking forward to this one.

Re: What book are you reading at the moment?
i finished it last night also. though i would like to read it in one sitting, as of yet i have not.
its definitely good. i wouldnt call it great, as i dont think it has anything more to reveal after the first reading, and thought its definitely written extremely well, i like novels to have more depth then this one did. but i certainly enjoyed it, and the odd narrative it offers up.

the depth is in the lack of depth.
i thought as soon as they met ely, that it was just perfect.
and the ending was nice and open.

i would feel bad calling this pretentious, so instead i will say i prefer a book to have depth rather than depth through lack of depth. but i do like the open ending and how the situation is resolved a beat too late.

what i mean is the whole point of the book is it has little depth, or little explanation, or back story,
you can feel empathy for the boy because of that.
and i think that gives it it's reality.

Ring by Koji Suzuki.
The man can generate atmosphere and intrigue but the novel may be over written in places and he explains the obvious at times. But this is may be a problem of translation and not of his writing skill.

Yeh, I'm reading Order of the Phoenix. Fun times all round.
Remembering how much I enjoyed it. But the 3rd has still been my favourite so far.
