Re: The Music We Like Thread
Grizzly Bear?! Lee mentions this artist sometimes.
Also; I like Boards of Canada and Santana, yes.

Re: The Music We Like Thread
yeah, Grizzly Bear has a new album out, which is unpronouncable. it has garnered rave reviews, and i would like it. im a huge fan of the song he put on dark was the night, and i remember yellow house being good, but i dont remember much else about it.
Re: The Music We Like Thread
Sounds like good stuff! Alas, I cannot remember any Grizzly Bear material.
Re: The Music We Like Thread
i cant recommend yeasayer highly enough, despite the fact ive only heard two of their songs. like some incredible combination of psychedelic world music and 80's synth vocals.
Re: The Music We Like Thread
I am currently starting my thursday with Radiohead's Amnesiac. I like this album. It is one of my favourites. I like I Might Be Wrong and Knives Out, also You and Whose Army. I like other tracks too, but these are my best ones. I'm not saying I wrote them, because I didn't. But I like them. Lots. Its a good way to start a Thursday.
Re: The Music We Like Thread
That does sound like a good way to start a Thursday!
First song I listened to this morning was 'P is for Piano' from that soundtrack that Massive Attack did. Y'know, 'cause I regularly put the 'shuffle songs' function on my iPod into use, and that's what it decided to throw at me.
I've now got some Joe Henderson on.
I think I mentioned that elsewhere.
...
Does anyone object to me creating a jazz thread?
I will be the only one posting on it, I presume.

I enjoy metal every now and again.
And I've been slowly getting Alex into metal too, I think.
Methinks I'll play her some more Slayer later tonight.

Speaking of American folk-indie, as we never actually were..
@Capu: Methinks you will really, really enjoy Akron/Family's debut album 'Akron/Family'.. It's a fantastic example of all of the stuff you seem to have been getting into recently..
Also, I'm beginning to really (EDIT)like(/EDIT) The Books, and I already spoke to you about the first Islands album. So, there.

Nope.
If I was Slayer, I'd be four massive guys, one of whom is as bald as God.

Gilbey's shades are too shiny for my liking. Seems pretty unnatural. I also have no idea what he is talking about. And I'm -still- sure that God is hairy.

Dont ask me why, but the way you wrote this you sounded like Robert Edwin,
It's not that much broken English,
But made me smile.
Thank you for that.
And yeah, amnsiac is great to slip on every now and then.
Like a pair of jeans that you dont normallly wear.

I have a jazz chat with ya my friend.
You ever heard of Polar bear.
They are a resonably good modern jazz group.
Not that modern jazz is particualarly brilliant. And has crossed over into a realm of chilled out electronica.
