After seeing Paul Rodgers with Queen I've noticed just how good a singer he really is!

Re: Which Song Are You Listening To?!
Y'know when you go through most of your life up to this point thinking that The Fall of Troy are some lame emo/screamo band, so you don't listen to them, and then you do, and they're unexpectedly good?
That's now.
I'm listening to 'Chapter III: Nostalgic Mannerisms' from Phantom on the Horizon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpiCZOlkEvA
Not this version.
Though that also exists.
This is a damn good EP.

Triumphatus Sad - Jacula.
This is effectively black/doom metal. But from 1969 a whole year before Sabbath's debut.

Speaking of which,
this song always seemed eerily prophetic of the direction heavy music would eventually take to me. Especially the part where the guy screams "Cecil runs!"..
I mean, all it's missing is distorted guitars.
& maybe a bit less prog influence.
Caravan - Cecil Runs (misprinted everywhere except the original vinyl as Cecil Rons), from 1968.

Re: Which Song Are You Listening To?!
This is a cool song. And yeah it is definitely a musical foreshadowing of things to come wit regards to heavy music. Although how the misprinting occurs seems very odd to me. Obiously Cecil Runs makes more sense and should be assumed correct. No one has ever ronned to my knowledge.Reckoner wrote:andrews wrote:Triumphatus Sad - Jacula.

I ronned once. Didn't regret it.
But I think in this case, when it was issued on CD (in 1996) someone somewhere made a mistake, no-one bothered checking it, and now it's almost exclusively known as Cecil Rons.
Pretty bizarre, really.
I always thought it was the guy's name.
Then I read somewhere that the original vinyl had it as 'Cecil Runs' and it was all a big misunderstanding. I was all like "lolwut?"..
Now, I've never actually seen the original vinyl, so I have no idea if it's true or not.
All I know is that no-one cares enough about Caravan to find out once and for all what the name of the song is, and either correct it or say "hey come on guys, Rons is the dude's surname, lol."
I have the album on CD though.
Definitely says 'Cecil Rons'.
In one of the worst fonts I've ever seen on the back of a legitimate release.
I think it's actually Times New Roman.
Hey come on guys.

Re: Which Song Are You Listening To?!
OH YEAH.
I'm listening to Lamb's 'B Line', from Fear of Fours.
Which I just found out has a Ben?! weird music video.
I could buy all four Lamb albums right now, for a total of £8.64..
But I've already bought two Miles Davis albums, two Squarepusher albums and an Aphex Twin album today. TOO MUCH STUFF.
Though Lamb are pretty win.
Perhaps I should go for those purchases after all.
£17.13 for the above purchases.
Though I did buy Harvey on DVD the other day as well.
& that Four Tet album.
Though my boss paid for half of that, didn't he?..
Maybe if I buy the Lamb albums, & not buy anything else this month..
Admittedly, that's what I said about that first Miles Davis album, but y'know.
HELP ME.
IT IS IN MY NATURE TO BUY COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF CDs & DVDs.
BOTH OF THESE PRODUCTS ARE COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY TO MY EVOLUTION AS A HUMAN BEING, BUT I CANNOT KEEP FROM BUYING THEM.
I DON'T WANT TO BE CONSUMED BY POSSESSIONS ANY LONGER...
...BUT JUST LOOK HOW CHEAP THEY ARE!

Have you heard this album Lee?
I have heard the first track on Spotify.
I'll probably listen to the rest AT ANOTHER POINT IN TIME DURING THE INESCAPABLE PRESENT. I would've listened to it already, but y'know..
WHAT I AM LISTENING TO:
Koen Park - Nowhere Community.
http://www.archive.org/details/headphonica.hpcd033
Have you heard this album Tom?
It is apparently only available to download from that link since Headphonica went down.
I got it in a 7GB Headphonica collection which is probably still available from somewhere on the internet.
Anyway all of this is irrelevant in light of the fact that IAN HAWGOOD IS A LEGEND.

We totally have an mp3 rip of the vinyl version.
Maaaaan...
...actually, that's alright with me.
ALSO:
Totally forgot The Roots' 'Do You Want More?!!!??!', the self titled Blonde Redhead debut and 'La Mia Vita Violenta' in my 1995 list.
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD.
EDIT:
'...And The Circus Leaves Town' and the debut Foo Fighters album may also belong in that list.
Oops.
